The trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, the final in
Peter Jackson’s trilogy, has been released and it looks set to
incorporate some epic battle scenes.
The previous film in Jackson’s Tolkien adaptations, The Desolation of Smaug, saw Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) attempt to retrieve the Arkenstone, a supreme gem belonging to potential Dwarf King Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), from the Lonely Mountain of Erebor. However the plan backfired and resulted in greedy dragon Smaug (Voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) leaving Erebor and heading towards nearby Lake-town, fixed on destruction.
The new movie will see Smaug unleash his almighty wrath upon the people of Lake-town, while the dark wizard Sauron, who has returned to Middle Earth, sends an army of Orcs and Wargs to attack Lonely Mountain.
The highly anticipated movie, which also stars Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Evangeline Lily as Tauriel and Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, will hit cinemas on December 12.
