[JOHANNESBURG] -- At least six people, including a police officer, were shot and injured at the Noord Street taxi rank in Joubert Park, central Johannesburg, on Tuesday evening by an unknown man, Gauteng police said.
"It is alleged that a quarrel between a suspect and a victim started in the restrooms of the rank," spokesperson Captain Doniah Mothutsane said.
"The suspect then shot the victim on the lower body. He then went outside, a police reservist ran after him, the suspect then shot him on the ankle."
Mothustane said as the man was fleeing the scene, he started shooting randomly, injuring four other people.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said three people were in a critical condition while three others had sustained serious wounds.
The shooting took place around 18:00.
